Long Ridge Road Bridge Replacement over the East Branch of the Mianus River

Project Cost

 

This project is funded by the State of Connecticut and will cost $2.45 million.

 

Background

 

The project will replace the 6 ft. x 8 ft. culvert carrying the East Branch of the Mianus River under Route 104 (Long Ridge) with a 26 foot wide concrete 3 sided frame. The culvert is located near Riverbank Road and Old Long Ridge Road.

 

Goals

 

The purpose of this project is to update the culvert and bring it in line with 100 year storm design standards.

 

Timeline

 

  • Contract awarded: January 2019
  • Work will begin April 1st with single lane closures and one-way alternating traffic.
    • M-F 9:00 am -3:00 pm and 6:00 pm - 6:00 am

    • S-S 6:00 pm -10:00 am

  • A four week closure of Long Ridge Road to through traffic between Erskine Rd from the north and Old Long Ridge Rd from the south will occur between July 24th - August 21st.
  • CONNDOT will host a public information session on the road closure on July 9th at 6:30 p.m. at the firehouse at 366 Old Long Ridge Road
  • Work contracted to end: September 7th 2019

 

This project is now completed. 

 

Impact

 

Long Ridge Rd will be closed to through traffic between Erskine Rd from the north and Old Long Ridge Rd from the south for approximately 4 weeks this summer, sometime between July 24th and August 21th.  

 

Please plan ahead and seek alternate routes during this period

 

Occasional off-peak alternating one-way traffic should be expected on this section of Long Ridge Road before and after the reopening of the road. This will be necessary to complete ancillary work such as utility relocations, final paving and landscaping.

 

Work will take place up to 16 hours per day, 7 days a week.

 

There will be no significant impact on the CTtransit bus services.
