What Does the New Assessment Mean For Your Taxes?

New Assessment

To approximate the impact of your property to the estimated Grand List prior to future budget adjustments, calculate A - B= Approximate Tax Impact. Please note that your new assessment does not include any elderly, veterans, disability or other related exemptions or credits for which you may be eligible. Your new assessment will include: any building permit activity, parcel consolidation, lot splits or declarations filed this year.

The Office of Assessment is solely responsible for assessing all Real, Commercial, and Motor Vehicle property within the City of Stamford. They are not responsible for setting the Mill Rate.

The Board of Finance in May every year determines and sets the Mill Rate, also known as the Tax Rate. The Mill Rate is set after the Boards of Finance and Representatives make changes to the Mayor's proposed budget and adopt a final budget for the fiscal year.
