Mayor David Martin, who will be out of town this Friday, issued this statement today regarding recent labor demonstrations in Stamford.
“I believe in both the rights of employees in Stamford to unionize as well as the role unions play in ensuring that workers are fully represented. I expect all businesses in Stamford to conduct themselves in a way that best exemplifies a belief in fairness, honesty and respect towards employees.”
“Our country has had a long history of workers organizing to improve working conditions for employees. The role of labor unions are necessary to ensure that employees are both fairly represented and listened to. The City of Stamford continues to work with our unions to ensure a positive work environment, fair wages and benefits, and that all issues are addressed in a timely matter.”
