Mayor's Youth Services Bureau: Empowering the Next Generation

The Mayor's Youth Services Bureau is dedicated to nurturing the growth of compassionate, responsible, resilient, and successful young individuals. Our mission is to provide resources, programs, and support that enable youth to thrive both now and in the future.

Our key programs include:

  • Mayor's Youth Leadership Council
  • Mayor's Youth Employment Program
  • Pathfinders Adventure Learning
  • Here2Help (Chronic Absenteeism Support Program)

Through the School Readiness Foundation (501c3), we offer vital youth programming focused on promoting mental health and overall well-being. In partnership with the City of Stamford, Stamford Public Schools, Police Athletic League, and community-based organizations, we aim to address the social determinants of mental health by providing the following services:

  • Youth Mental Health Awareness: Student lead outreach campaigns aimed to educate their peers about the importance of mental well-being, reduce stigma surrounding mental health issues, and provide resources and support.
  • Community Engagement & Advocacy: Empowering youth to engage in public policymaking and community action to enhance their mental health and well-being.
  • Basic Needs Support: Connecting youth and families with essential community resources that provide food, financial support, and health care access to reduce stressors that impact mental health.
  • Workforce Readiness & Education: Offering job training, resume-building, and academic support to ensure all youth feel prepared for a successful post-secondary future.

Our programs emphasize leadership development, self-confidence, and life skills. We also offer opportunities for adults, parents, youth workers, teachers, and mentors to improve personal development, mental health awareness, teamwork, and communication skills.

Located on the 6th floor of the Government Center, the Mayor's Youth Services Bureau is a hub for resources, referrals, and collaboration with youth-serving agencies to ensure youth and families receive the support they need.
