Did You Receive a Canvass Card?

The Annual Canvass is conducted January 1 – April 1 to update voter records for changes of residence. Notices are sent by first-class mail with a postage-paid postcard.

If you receive this mailing, please complete the Canvass Notice and return it to the Registrar of Voters.

If you receive a mailing that's not for you, please return it with notations (i.e. daughter moved)

What Happens Next

  • If a voter confirms a move within Stamford → the Registrar updates the voter’s address.
  • If a voter confirms a move out of town/state → the ROV will remove the voter from the registry.
  • If two pieces of mail by USPS are returned to the Registrar of Voters, a voter can be made inactive.

Two contact attempts are required before a voter’s status is changed.
