What is Easy Access?

Easy Access is the official paratransit service for the City of Stamford operated by Norwalk Transit District through a contract with the Connecticut DOT. It is available for travel anywhere within the City of Stamford and within ¾ mile radius of an operating CT transit bus route within Greenwich, Darien, Norwalk and limited areas of New York, during the same hours that the route operates. Service outside this ¾ mile area in New York, Greenwich and Darien is not provided. A rider must be ADA eligible to use Easy Access. They must complete this form and submit it to Norwalk Transit District who will make a determination of eligibility.

Riders who have proven their eligibility to other transit providers can have their eligibility recognized by Norwalk Transit.

Eligibility must be recertified every three years.

Temporary eligibility may be granted. These are often in cases related but not limited to undergoing or recovering from a medical procedure that impedes a person’s ability to access public transit.

What is the price?

Fare for a trip (one-way) is $2.80 and covers the cost any personal care companion.

Drivers should not be and do not need to be tipped.

Where do you purchase tickets?

RMPay balances must be in good standing. Transportation will not be provided without the proper fare balance in the RMPay system.

Drivers are trained to accommodate and exercise sensitivity in addressing riders’ needs. Drivers cannot enter private buildings or residences. Rides are door-to-door and drivers will make every effort possible to provide the shortest travel distance to and from the vehicle.
