What is CT transit?

CT Transit is the official bus operator in Stamford operated by the Connecticut Department of Transportation.

CT transit is a public bus system open to anyone with discounted fare rates for seniors 65 and up as well as users with disabilities.

CT transit’s Stamford Division runs both local buses and routes connecting to New Canaan, Darien, Norwalk, Greenwich, Port Chester and the Stamford to White Plains express.

CT transit is also the official bus operator in several other Connecticut cities, namely New Haven, Hartford, Bristol, Meriden, New Britain, Wallingford, and Waterbury.

Where can you access schedule information?

Consult the CT transit trip planner for more information about individual lines.

Operating hours vary by bus line.

Transit App is the official mobile schedule viewer for CT transit buses and shows real time information for all buses. The app is available on the App Store and Google Play.

What is the price?

Seniors 65 years and older and ADA riders are eligible for reduced fares with the presentation of a Medicare card, Connecticut-issued reduced fare ID, or any other valid ADA identification document.

The prices for reduced fares are: a “Two-Hour Pass” (regular ticket) on CT transit at $0.85, an “All-Day Pass” (good for 24 consecutive hours) at $1.70, a ten-ride ticket bundle at $7.65, and a 31-day pass at $30.60.

Where do you purchase tickets?

Two-Hour and All-Day passes can be purchased with cash on CT transit buses.

Physical tickets and passes can also be purchased online and be mailed to you, can be mailed away for, or can be purchased from a service outlet.

The Stamford CT transit service outlet is located at the Stamford Train Station near the South State Street entrance. It is open Monday to Friday 7 am to 6 pm and Saturday 9 am to 3 pm.

The Token Transit App can be used to purchase tickets using a credit or debit card on-the-fly and is an official affiliate of CT transit, as well as several other transit systems in Connecticut, namely Norwalk Transit, River Valley Transit in Middletown, and CT ferry.

Where can you use a ticket?

Regardless of the city you live in or primarily travel within, a CT transit ticket is valid across all their regular bus services except for express buses which have separate fares.

What other accessibility features are available?

All CT transit buses can kneel and have wheelchair/scooter ramps and straps for securing mobility devices. Ask a bus driver for assistance when boarding or exiting.
