General City Mosquito Control Measures:

The Stamford Department of Health, Environmental Health and Inspections division inspects those environmental areas and conditions which support the breeding of mosquitoes.

Whenever possible, the inspectors will take appropriate action to eliminate the mosquito breeding areas and in doing so prevent the development of the mosquito larva into adult mosquitoes.

The creation of a Mosquito Control Program within the Environmental Health Division will enable the inspectors to more effectively eliminate mosquitoes and the diseases carried by them.

City Vector Control Measures:

The Stamford Department of Health, Environmental Health and Inspections Division inspects those environmental areas and conditions which support the breeding of rats, mice, roaches, bats, raccoons, etc.

Whenever possible, the inspectors will take appropriate action to eliminate the harborage areas used by the aforementioned animals and insects for nesting and safety.

Appropriate extermination activities conducted by State of Connecticut licensed exterminators may also be necessary to eliminate the disease carrying organisms. Inspectors will advise citizens of the steps necessary to prevent future infestations in and around their homes and businesses.
