Our Mission is to promote policies and strategies which adhere to the philosophy of individual and family self sufficiency and to provide information to aid residents of Stamford in obtaining basic human sustenance and services including those programs related to the needs of the elderly.

Health Insurance Assistance

Healthcare Related ProgramsAccess Health CT, Husky A, B, C, QHP

Case Management for Adults, Families, Seniors and Disabled

Assess client needs, coordinate services and resources to meet those needs, evaluate and provide follow up services as needed.

Community Referrals and Information

Information for emergency shelter, food, clothing, affordable housing, landlord/tenant issue, etc.

Eviction Storage and Auction

Storage, removal and sale of evictee’s possessions and personal effects.

Fair Rent

Social Services Commission receives, investigates, processes, resolves or hears tenant complaints alleging unfair rent increases, service reductions or retaliatory actions.

MedAssist Choices

Assistance for older adults and other people with Medicare understand their Medicare and health care options.

Renter’s Rebate

A reimbursement program for Connecticut renters who are elderly or totally disabled, and whose incomes do not exceed certain limits.

Share the Fare

Half priced taxi vouchers for Stamford residents over the age of 62 and for disabled individuals.

Uniform Relocation Assistance (URAA)

Assistance for individuals and families displaced from residential rental properties due to code enforcement activities.
