The mission of the Department of Social Services is to provide Stamford’s citizens with information about, and assist their access to programs and/or resources that meet their basic human needs and protect their basic human and legal rights. Towards these ends, department personnel are responsible for outreach, ensuring that Stamford residents are aware of supportive programs and services that may be available to them. By providing individualized assistance on an “as needed” and bilingual basis, access to these programs and services are maximized.

Storage, removal and sale of evictee’s possessions and personal effects.
Social Services Commission receives, investigates, processes, resolves or hears tenant complaints alleging unfair rent increases, service reductions or retaliatory actions.
Assistance for older adults and other people with Medicare understand their Medicare and health care options.
|A reimbursement program for Connecticut renters who are elderly or totally disabled, and whose incomes do not exceed certain limits.|
|Half priced taxi vouchers for Stamford residents over the age of 62 and for disabled individuals.|
