MAYOR CAROLINE SIMMONS ANNOUNCES UPDATED WALK-IN PERMITTING CENTER SCHEDULE

STAMFORD, CT – Today, Mayor Caroline Simmons announced that the City of Stamford will transition to a weekly walk-in permitting schedule to further improve efficiency and accessibility for residents. Effective September 3, 2025, the City will implement the following changes:

Transition from bi-weekly to weekly sessions
Adjusted hours from 8:30 am – 10:30 am

The walk-in permitting sessions are held in the dedicated Permitting Center on the 7^th floor of the Stamford Government Center, where residents and small business owners seeking a permit can meet with city staff to ask questions about residential and small commercial projects. Since launching in October 2024, the walk-in permitting sessions have seen more than 620 visitors, averaging 29 per session. This initiative requires all city departments involved in the permitting process to be available during these hours.

“Thanks to the outstanding engagement from all participating city departments, this initiative has been a valuable service for Stamford residents and small business owners,” said Mayor Simmons. “By transitioning to a weekly schedule and tailoring the hours to match demand, we are continuing to create a more accessible and customer-friendly permitting process that saves time for both residents and small business owners.”
