PRESS RELEASE: MAYOR CAROLINE SIMMONS RECOMMENDS CHANGE TO DRAFT STAMFORD 2035 COMPREHENSIVE PLAN

STAMFORD, CT – Today, Mayor Caroline Simmons sent a letter to members of the City of Stamford Planning Board recommending an update to the draft Stamford 2035 Comprehensive Plan. The Mayor proposed amending or removing the R2 “Residential Neighborhood” future land use category to ensure the plan makes clear that single-family neighborhoods remain protected and further demonstrate that Stamford can meet its projected growth and affordable housing goals without compromising the zoning and stability of these areas.

In her letter, Mayor Simmons also reaffirmed the importance of the plan as a framework to guide the city’s growth, preservation, and sustainability over the next decade, while emphasizing the need to reflect the long-term vision and priorities of Stamford residents.
