Read below to learn more about initiatives my administration is working on, resources for Stamford residents, information about upcoming events, and important city and state information.

 

MAYOR’S UPDATES

  • Annual Juneteenth Celebration: We were proud to have hosted the City of Stamford's Annual Juneteenth Celebration. This is a vibrant, inclusive event honoring the end of slavery and the ongoing journey toward freedom and equality. From moving performances and inspiring speakers to community art and local food vendors, it was a day of unity, reflection, and joy.

  • Reimaging Bedford Street: My administration has recently launched the Reimagine Bedford Street project which is a community-driven visioning process to shape the future of Bedford Street between Broad Street and Forest Street. We want to hear from you! Share what you love about Bedford Street and what you'd like to see improved.

CITY NEWS

  • Walk-In Permitting Schedule: Don’t miss our upcoming walk-in permitting hours intended for residential and small commercial businesses such as food businesses, cosmetology, barber, and retail food establishments. City officials will be present to help those in attendance. The next session will be on Wednesday, June 25th between 9:30am – 12:00pm in the 7th Floor Lobby of Government Center.
  • Hunting Ridge Road Bridge: The Hunting Ridge Road Bridge is now open to vehicular traffic!
  • Cedar Heights Bridge Replacement: The Cedar Heights Bridge is now open!
  • June Arts & Culture Guide: The City of Stamford and the Stamford Arts and Culture Commission are excited to announce, “Stamford Spotlight: A Celebration of Arts and Culture.” This guide highlights upcoming arts and cultural events in Stamford. Be sure to stop by and support our local organizations! Click here to view the June Guide.
  • Lathon Wider Community Center: On the morning of Thursday, January 2, the City Facilities Department was notified of a flooding incident in the basement of the Lathon Wider Community Center (137 Henry Street) caused by a failure in a piece of mechanical equipment. The target date for reopening the building is early September 2025. For any questions or urgent needs regarding the Health Department’s walk-in health services, please call (203)-977-5652.
    • The Stamford Health Department Community Public Health Clinic has temporarily moved to 138 Stillwater Avenue - a former Optimus location. Convenient street parking is available.
  • Curb Repair: Request for curb repairs can be submitted under the category "Roads" on Fixit at stamfordct.gov/fixit
  • Apply for a Special Events Permit: To reserve a pavilion or host events at city parks click here.

City Events

  • July 4th Fireworks: In celebration of July 4th, the City of Stamford will hold fireworks at Cummings Beach on Wednesday, July 2. The rain date will be Thursday, July 3. Entertainment will begin at 6:00 pm and residents will be able to bring blankets and chairs to the beach. There will be food trucks onsite and the fireworks will begin shortly after 9:00 pm.
  • CT Green Bank’s C-Pace Program: The City of Stamford is pleased to invite residents, building owners, property managers, developers, construction companies, non-profits, and businesses to a workshop about the CT Green Bank’s C-PACE program.  The program provides financing for energy-efficiency upgrades and renewable energy projects
  • Access to Capital Event: Join the City of Stamford's Office of Economic Development for an information and networking session with local, state, and regional organizations providing access to capital and resources for small businesses at the Ferguson Library on Thursday, June 26th at 12:00 pm. Employment Opportunities in the City

  • Old Long Ridge Road Bridge: After a visual inspection of the Old Long Ridge Road Bridge, just south of Hunting Ridge Road, city engineers have implemented a temporary one-way traffic pattern, effective immediately. The City will share further updates as they become available.

     

  • Mill Road Bridge: The Mill Road bridge near Old Long Ridge Road is open to one lane vehicular traffic.  Residents can click here for updates.

     

  • Hunting Ridge Road Bridge Replacement: The Hunting Ridge Road Bridge is currently closed for replacement. A detour route is in effect, with the project scheduled to be completed in June 2025. More information can be found here.
  • Connecticut Department of Transportation Stamford Station Construction: Construction continues at the Stamford Train Station, so please make sure to plan ahead.
