Read below to learn more about initiatives my administration is working on, resources for Stamford residents, information about upcoming events, and important city and state information.

Thank you all for the well wishes! Art and I are thrilled celebrate the arrival of Lily Elizabeth Linares, born on April 28th. Her proud big brothers are already doting on their new baby sister. A heartfelt thank you to the incredible team of doctors and nurses at Stamford Health for their exceptional care.

 

MAYOR’S UPDATES

  • New Police Recruits: Congratulations to the newest class of Stamford Police Academy recruits! We’re proud to welcome 18 new recruits who make up the second class to train right here in Stamford. We look forward to seeing their dedication in action as they begin this important journey in service to our community.

  • Sound Waters State of the Harbor: Thank you to SoundWaters for hosting an important panel discussion on the state of Stamford Harbor. The health and accessibility of our Harbor are essential to Stamford’s continued growth, resilience, and quality of life. Our administration remains committed to protecting and enhancing this vital resource through investments in public safety, sustainability, public access, and our parks and marinas. In partnership with SoundWaters and the Stamford Harbor Management Commission, we will continue working to ensure Stamford Harbor remains a source of pride, connection, and enjoyment for generations to come.

CITY NEWS

  • 2025 Mayor’s Community Microgrant Program: The 2025 Community Microgrant Program is now open and accepting applications until this upcoming Monday, May 5th! Learn how you can get involved and apply here.
  • Lathon Wider Community Center: On the morning of Thursday, January 2, the City Facilities Department was notified of a flooding incident in the basement of the Lathon Wider Community Center (137 Henry Street) caused by a failure in a piece of mechanical equipment. The target date for reopening the building is July 1, 2025. For any questions or urgent needs regarding the Health Department’s walk-in health services, please call (203)-977-5652.
    • The Stamford Health Department Community Public Health Clinic has temporarily moved to 138 Stillwater Avenue - a former Optimus location. Convenient street parking is available.
  • Paving Update: Click here for the priority list for paving operations established in response to a city-wide road assessment in 2022.
  • Curb Repair: Request for curb repairs can be submitted under the category "Roads" on Fixit at stamfordct.gov/fixit
  • Apply for a Special Events Permit: To reserve a pavilion or host events at city parks click here.

City Events

  •  Memorial Day Parade: The Stamford Patriotic & Special Events Commission in conjunction with Stamford Veterans Council, Stamford Veterans Park Partnership and Stamford Veterans Resource Center invite all to the Memorial Day Parade & Ceremony on Sunday, May 18, 2025.  The parade steps off at 12:00 pm and will travel the following route: Stamford Police Department to Veterans Memorial Park via Bedford Street, across Broad Street and continuing on Atlantic Street. Ceremony immediately following the parade in Veterans Memorial Park (130 Atlantic Street).

  • SPD Behavioral Health Fair: The Stamford Police Department United with host their annual Behavior Health Fair this Sunday from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the Stamford Boys and Girls Club. See the flyer below for more information.

Employment Opportunities in the City

  • Old Long Ridge Road Bridge: After a visual inspection of the Old Long Ridge Road Bridge, just south of Hunting Ridge Road, city engineers have implemented a temporary one-way traffic pattern, effective immediately. The city will share further updates as they become available.
  • Mill Road Bridge: The Mill Road bridge near Old Long Ridge Road is open to one lane vehicular traffic.  Residents can click here for updates.
  • Cedar Heights Bridge Replacement: The Cedar Heights Bridge is currently closed and is scheduled to reopen by May 15th, 2025. Residents are encouraged to check here for more information.
  • Hunting Ridge Road Bridge Replacement: The Hunting Ridge Road Bridge is currently closed for replacement. A detour route is in effect, with the project scheduled to be completed in June 2025. More information can be found here.
  • Connecticut Department of Transportation Stamford Station Construction: Construction continues at the Stamford Train Station, so please make sure to plan ahead.
