Honoring Black History Month: This past weekend, we proudly raised the Black History Month flag at Government Center to recognize and celebrate the achievements and contributions of Black leaders across our city. Thank you to all the community leaders and residents who joined us to honor Ms. Jessie Dixon with the Black History Month Award of Excellence, long time public servant who is turning 100 this year!

2025 Arts and Culture Grant Ceremony: We recognized and celebrated the 2025 Stamford Arts & Culture Grant recipients that highlight the vibrancy of Stamford’s thriving arts and culture community! This year, the Arts and Culture Commission received over 30 applications and awarded $197,245 in funding to support arts and culture events and initiatives throughout the city.

SPS Welcome Center: I was thrilled to join Superintendent Dr. Lucero for the grand opening of the new Stamford Public Schools Welcome Center at Cloonan Middle School! This one-stop hub is designed to simplify the school registration process while also offering important resources such as health assistance, language screenings, parent workshops, and community support. Stamford 2035 Comprehensive Plan Open House: Join us on February 20, 2025, from 4:00-6:30 PM at The First Presbyterian Church (1101 Bedford Street) for a Public Open House and Goal Validation Workshop. Connect with the planning team and your neighbors to help shape Stamford's future. Pre-registration is requested to ensure we’re reaching a representative sample of Stamford residents, so save your spot and be part of creating Stamford's future! Stamford 2035: The City of Stamford is excited to launch the Stamford 2035 Comprehensive Plan, a once-in-a-decade opportunity to assess the city's current state and explore key questions about our future! This plan will guide Stamford’s development through 2035, focusing on crucial topics like sustainability, resilience, diversity, equity, inclusion, housing, economic growth, mobility, and infrastructure. Throughout the 10-month process, you’ll have the chance to share your vision for Stamford by participating in public meetings, workshops, surveys, and discussions with our planning team. Lathon Wider Community Center: On the morning of Thursday, January 2, the City Facilities Department was notified of a flooding incident in the basement of the Lathon Wider Community Center (137 Henry Street) caused by a failure in a piece of mechanical equipment. Due to the impact on critical building services, the facility will be closed indefinitely. The target date for reopening is July 1, 2025. At this time, the City is working with the impacted tenants to try and accommodate their needs during this transition. For any questions or urgent needs regarding the Health Department’s walk-in health services, please call (203)-977-5652.

Stamford 2035 Visions of the City Survey: In case you missed Stamford 2035's first open house, please take five minutes to share your thoughts on the Visions of the City here! Your insights will help the planning team formulate visions, goals, strategies, and actions for the future of Stamford.

Stamford Transportation Center Master Plan: Our administration has been meeting with the Connecticut Department of Transportation and city transportation officials to continue to make progress on the Stamford Train Station Master Plan. Black History Month Stamford Community Fair: Back by popular demand, the UCONN Stamford Campus located at 1 University Place, Stamford, CT will host its annual Black History Month 2025 Stamford Community Event Vendor Fair on Saturday, February 15, 2025 from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. All are welcome to support the artisans and Black-owned businesses, Community organizations, artist, jewelry makers and distributors, authors, and more.

Transportation Center Mural Public Voting: Voting is now open to Stamford residents on which mural they would like to see at the new Stamford Transportation Center Parking Garage, click here to vote. Voting closes on February 14th.

Tax Prep Service: From February 1 through April 15, Tax-Aide volunteers certified by the IRS, and under the sponsorship of the AARP Foundation will once again be providing free tax return preparation for the greater Stamford community. See the flyer below for more information.

Stamford Veterans Resource Center Anniversary: Join the Celebration, on February 18th 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at Old Town Hall to celebrate the Stamford Veterans Resource Center 2-year anniversary.

Mayor’s Cybersecurity Initiative: The Mayor’s Cybersecurity Initiative is having two workshops for seniors at the Stamford Senior Center on March 6. A Spanish language workshop will be during the Hispanic Club at 10am and the English workshop will be at 11:30am. The event is free, but please register ahead of time. Mill Road Bridge: The Mill Road bridge near Old Long Ridge Road is open to one lane vehicular traffic. Residents can click here for updates.

Cedar Heights Bridge Replacement: The Cedar Heights Bridge is currently closed and is scheduled to be reopened in April 2025. Residents are encouraged to check here for more information.

Hunting Ridge Road Bridge Replacement: The Hunting Ridge Road Bridge is currently closed for replacement. A detour route is in effect, with the project scheduled to be completed in June 2025. More information can be found here.

Connecticut Department of Transportation Stamford Station Construction: Construction continues at the Stamford Train Station, so please make sure to plan ahead.
