Your City at Work: From the Mayor’s Desk

Read below to learn more about initiatives my administration is working on, resources for Stamford residents, information about upcoming events, and important city and state information.

I am saddened to hear about the passing of Governor Jodi Rell. Throughout her distinguished career, she led with integrity, compassion, and a steadfast commitment to improving the lives of those she served. She was a trailblazing leader and dedicated public servant who left an indelible mark on the state of Connecticut. My thoughts are with her family during this difficult time”. – Mayor Caroline Simmons

MAYOR’S UPDATES

  • StamFORWARD: I am excited to share that this week, the city’s first microtransit service, StamFORWARD, launched! Microtransit service is an accessible, on-demand mode of transportation that allows customers to use a smartphone app or telephone number to request and schedule a ride within designated service areas. This innovative pilot program will enhance connectivity, accessibility, and mobility in our city, and reflects our administration’s commitment to building a more inclusive, equitable, and sustainable Stamford.

Resident can download the StamFORWARD app, and through December 19th, all rides are free. After December 19th, an individual ride costs $1.75, with $0.85 for additional passengers. Seniors aged 62 and over and ADA eligible riders can ride for $0.85. More information can be found at: https://city.ridewithvia.com/stamford. Thank you to the Connecticut Department of Transportation, who awarded Stamford $2.5 million to be one of nine transit districts to pilot this two-year program.
