COVID-19 Response

Protecting the health and safety of our community and responding to COVID-19 is my top priority

Mask Lift

Due to the measures we’ve implemented over the past few months, today I was proud to announce we are at a place where we can lift the city-wide mask mandate, effective Wednesday, February 16. Masks are still required to be worn in hospitals, nursing homes, healthcare and childcare facilities, schools, municipal buildings, and on public transit.

When we announced the mask mandate, we had hoped to be able to lift it around mid-February. After reviewing the data and thanks to the work of Stamford public health officials, frontline workers and residents who stepped up to get vaccinated, boosted, and followed the mask mandate, we feel confident making this decision at this time.

The safety and wellbeing of Stamford residents remains my priority and I still encourage all residents who are eligible to continue getting vaccinated, boosted, wear a mask when it is recommended, and if exposed to COVID-19, take the precautions needed to take care of themselves and their families.

Launch of Mental Health Resources Page

Mental

This week we launched a dedicated mental health resource page on the City of Stamford website! Too often, issues related to mental health and substance abuse are overlooked and resources are not readily accessible to those who need them. This problem has only been exacerbated due to the COVID-19 pandemic. My administration is prioritizing expanding resources for mental health support in our community and the creation of this page on our City’s website is the first of many steps we look forward to taking to bringing awareness and tackling this issue.

Thank you to the residents who attended Citizen Service Hubs over the past two months and members of my transition team's Public Health Committee who expressed the importance of this issue and the need for a centralized location for these resources. Click here to view all resources!

As we approach my first 100 days in office, my team and I continue to work towards achieving the goals laid out by our policy committees. As we move forward, I will continue to share and provide brief updates each to you all, so that you can see and hear how your local government is serving you, key developments that will impact residents and how our city operates, critical announcements in the fight against COVID-19 and our efforts to ensure we recover in a responsible and sustainable way. This is just one platform where I will be sharing updates on a weekly basis, but you can also connect with me and my administration on the platforms below:
And of course, I will be out and about across the city every week visiting with local businesses, meeting with constituents, and hearing from stakeholders in our city – so I hope I’ll be able to talk to you in person very soon.
Have a wonderful weekend!
