  • If you are unable to leave your home or are uncomfortable traveling to a vaccine site, the Stamford Department of Health will bring the vaccine to you.  
  • Call 203.977.4378 or (203) 977-4369 to schedule your free in-home COVID-19 vaccine appointment.

  • Please visit the State of Connecticut's Vaccine Portal for information on how to request a new copy of your card. 
  • Residents interested in volunteer efforts to assist with the COVID-19 public health emergency can visit Stamford Together for more information at https://www.stamfordct.gov/stamfordtogether.

The Connecticut Council on Developmental Disabilities is offering assistance to individuals with behavioral, sensory, emotional, cognitive, or psychiatric conditions that prevent them from attending existing vaccine sites. Fill out the State of CT Homebound Intake Form if you or someone in your household needs assistance.


Community

  • The Stamford Police Department is hosting an Unused and Unwanted Medications Drop off Event on Saturday, October 23rd 10 am – 2pm at the Stamford Police Department located at 725 Bedford St.
    • The event is free, anonymous and an environmentally safe way to disposed of unwanted and unused medications
    • No liquids or needles will be accepted.
  • The Stamford Arts & Culture Commission is now accepting grant applications for artistic and cultural projects in Stamford. The Stamford Arts & Culture (SAC) Grant — formerly known as CAPP — has provided dozens of Stamford-based arts and cultural organizations with funding to initiate special projects within the city for over 20 years.
    • To submit an application and for more information on eligibility requirements, please visit: https://www.stamfordct.gov/sacgrant. All applications are due before 11:59 pm on Monday, November 15, 2021.
  • The Spring Street Farmers Market will continue until October 30 every Saturday from 9am-2pm.

State News

  • Governor Ned Lamont announced on Monday, October 18, that electrical utility customers in Connecticut will soon receive a robocall to raise awareness about the availability of funding for unpaid and overdue electrical utility bills through the state’s UniteCT program, which is administered by the Connecticut Department of Housing.
    • This effort is a continuation of an initiative that saw UniteCT deliver bulk payments in the amount of $17 million on behalf of Eversource and United Illuminating customers who are behind on their electrical utility payments.

  • Governor Lamont announced on Monday that that the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection has authorized the full launch of online sports wagering and iCasino in Connecticut as of 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 19, 2021.
    • The Connecticut Lottery Corporation, the Mohegan Tribe, and the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe may begin offering online wagering to all adults of legal betting age through their online gaming operating partners, which include Rush Street Interactive, FanDuel, and DraftKings, respectively.
    • A report from the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released on October 15 has shown that Connecticut currently has the highest rate of childhood immunizations of any state in the nation.
    • According to the report, Connecticut achieved an estimated 80.2% coverage rate for the recommended immunization series among children by age 24 months – well above the national average of 70.5% and above the average for the New England region of 79.7%.
    • “This report reveals that once again, Connecticut is a national leader in childhood immunization. That is in large part due to the efforts of many professional, community-based and private partnerships that have worked diligently with the state to raise awareness of this issue,” said Governor Lamont.
  • Governor Lamont announced on Monday that in accordance with a proclamation issues by President Joe Biden, Connecticut flags should be lowered throughout the country as a mark of respect for General Colin Powell.
    • Flags should be flown at half-staff until sunset on the evening of Friday, October 22, 2021.

Services

  • The City will continue to permit residents to place their leaves curbside for the 2021 Fall season. Only loose leaves that are left curbside will be collected. Please make sure that your loose leaves are not on the road or blocking the sidewalk, as this may result in removal costs and fines.
    • The leaf pickup program begins November 15th. Leaves must be out no later than:
      • North (Above Merritt Parkway): November 15, 2021
      • Middle (Merritt Parkway to I-95): November 22, 2021
      • South (South of I-95): December 6, 2021

  • The painting of High Ridge Road is nearing completion.
  • Work has begun on the Davenport St. reconstruction project.
    • The project is a public-private partnership to rebuild the roadway, and is in preparation for the Greenwich Ave/ Pulaski Roundabout.
    • Residents can read about the entire Greenwich Avenue Corridor Project here.
  • The Ludlow Street reconstruction and safety improvement project is still underway and will conclude at the end of the year. Click here for more details.
  • The City of Stamford is continuing their partnership with textile collection company HELPSY, which enables residents to recycle unwanted textiles more conveniently by booking an appointment with the organization.

  • The Board of Representatives Fiscal Committee is meeting on Monday, October 25th. Agenda
  • The Board of Representatives Operations Committee is meeting on Tuesday, October 26th. Agenda
  • The Board of Representatives Land Use/Urban Redevelopment Committee is meeting on Wednesday, October 27th. Agenda  
  • The Board of Representatives next regularly scheduled board meeting will take place on Wednesday, November 3.
