ACCOUNT CLERK I

DUTIES:  Under direct supervision, spends substantial time keeping records of financial transactions.  Enters, verifies, and monitors transaction details using a computerized integrated financial system; does related work as required.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:  Graduation from an accredited high school and one (1) year of office experience involving account-keeping functions, payroll, or other financial work OR any equivalent combination of training and experience as outlined above.

ENTRY LEVEL POLICE OFFICER

The City of Stamford is now accepting applications for the position of Police Officer. This position is general duty police work involving responsibility for the protection of life and property; the prevention, detection and investigation of crime; and for maintaining law and order. Assignments are received from superior officers and are carried out in accordance with established police rules and procedures. Police Officers must use their own judgment and act without supervision in meeting emergencies.

 

Minimum Qualifications

In order to be considered for employment as a police officer with the Stamford Police Department, applicants must:

 

  • Be a U.S. Citizen
  • Be at least 21 years old at time of appointment (can be 20 years old at time of application).
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalency
  • Have a valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s license
  • Have no Class A misdemeanor or B misdemeanor criminal convictions or any act of perjury or false statement.
  • Have no felony convictions
  • Must be of good moral character and reputation.
  • Meet or exceed the Cooper Institute 40% Physical Performance Standard in the four basic tests of the pre-employment Physical Ability Assessment to obtain a Complete Health and Injury Prevention (CHIP) Card.

DATA COORDINATOR

PARKING METER TECHNICIAN

DUTIES:  Under the general direction of a supervisor in the Office of Operation division of Traffic and Parking and repairs mechanical and electronic parking meters and other mechanisms; programs and maintains database for computerized parking meter systems; does related work as required.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:  Graduation from an accredited high school. Two (2) years of experience in the maintenance and repair of small mechanisms, coin-operated machines, meters and similar devices including one (1) year of experience with computerized parking meter systems.  Must possess a valid driver’s license.

TRAFFIC SIGNAL TECHNICIAN I

The City of Stamford is recruting for the position of Traffic Signal Technician I.  Interested candidates can apply by clicking the link below.

 

DUTIES: Under the general Supervision of the Traffic Signal Supervisor, performs journey level work in the installation, repair and preventative maintenance of electrical and electronically controlled traffic signal control equipment, traffic video and detection equipment; operates a bucket truck, and supervises assigned assistants; does related work as required.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:  Graduation from an accredited high school and four (4) years of responsible experience in the repair and installation of electronic equipment OR any equivalent combination of education, education, training and experiences as described above.

 

NOTE:  Post-high school education in the electronic, electrical and/or electro-mechanical fields may substitute for work experience on a yearly basis up to a maximum of two (2) years, of which one (1) year must have been in the traffic signal repair or installation field.

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:  Possession of a valid Commercial Driver’s License at time of appointment.  Obtain and main IMSA Level I Signal Certification within one (1) year of appointment.  Obtain and maintain IMSA Level 2 Signal Certification with two (2) years of appointment.

TRAFFIC SIGNAL TECHNICIAN II

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:  Graduation from an accredited college with a 2-year degree in electrical or electronics or closely related fields and four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in the repair, maintenance, operation, and installation of electronic equipment or any equivalent combination of education, training and experiences as described above.

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:  At time of appointment, possession of a valid Commercial Drivers’ License. Obtain and maintain IMSA Level 1 Signal Certification within one (1) year of appointment. Obtain and maintain IMSA Level 2 Signal Certification within two (2) years of appointment. Obtain and maintain IMSA Level 3 Certification within three (3) years of appointment.

PUBLIC SAFETY ANALYST

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

DUTIES:  Under the general direction of the Director of Operations or designee, schedules and supervises the weekly and daily operations of a service oriented activity within the Office of Operations; exercises supervision over Operations Foremen, Operations Programs Specialists, employees and contractors as assigned; assists in the long term planning and operations of the Office of Operations; does related work as required.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:  Graduation from an accredited high school and eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in facilities or grounds maintenance, refuse collection, public works, or construction, four (4) of which shall have been in a supervisory capacity, or a satisfactory equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.

 

NOTE:  Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration or a related field may substitute for four (4) years of non-supervisory experience required.

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:  At time of appointment, possession of a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.

The City of Stamford is accepting applications for the position of School and Family Resource Facilitator.

 

DUTIES:  Under the general supervision of the Executive Director of Student Support Services and Special Programs, develops, coordinates and implements a comprehensive program to provide parents and those individuals who care for children attending Stamford Public Schools with information about, and support to access, available resources in the schools and community; promotes a respect for the parents and caregivers as partners in education; liaisons with all of the agencies providing family and child services and makes that information available to families; coordinates the district mentoring programs; will be required to work evenings and weekends as needed; does related work as required.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:  Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree and three (3) years of experience in education, human services or a related field which included work with diverse populations.

 

NOTE:  A Master’s Degree in one of the fields described above may substitute for one (1) year of experience.

DUTIES:   Under the general supervision of the City and Town Clerk, performs skilled clerical tasks requiring a high degree of accuracy involving the indexing of land records as well as other documents in accordance with General State Statutes and the operation of technical equipment specific to indexing; proofreads indexing; does related work as required.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:  Graduation from an accredited high school and three (3) years of responsible office experience involving filing and indexing procedures, of which one (1) shall include working with legal instruments and records in a Town or City Clerk’s office, Law office or similar organization.
