LEAD CUSTODIAN

This position is open only to permanent full-time employees of the City who meet the minimum qualification requirement listed below.

 

POSITION:  Under the general direction of a department or school head, performs supervisory work in the cleaning and maintenance of a City building or school during the second or night shift; has immediate responsibility for a large building or school or supervision over a number of smaller buildings or schools; supervises, directs and participates in the work of subordinate custodial personnel; does related work as required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:   Two (2) years of experience in the rank of Custodian with the City of Stamford.

TRAFFIC ENGINEER

The City of Stamford is recruiting for the position of Traffic Engineer

 

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:  Under the general direction of the Bureau Chief of Transportation, Traffic and Parking is responsible for designing and managing traffic safety program for the City of Stamford.  Responsibilities include overseeing the traffic and signal engineering teams, supervision of the pavement markings, signs and traffic signals engineering and operational staff; data collection and analyses; project analysis; project design and construction oversight; and, crash analysis.  Prepares overall program plans and budget requests, monitors expenditures, and administers the approved budget; does related other duties as required.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:  Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Traffic Engineering or a related field.  A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in traffic engineering and safety management with at least two (2) years previous supervisory experience and budget management.  A Master’s degree in Traffic or Transportation Engineering can be substituted for one (1) year of experience.

CROSSING GUARDS

The City of Stamford is looking for dedicated community minded individuals to serve as Crossing Guards to meet the needs of our children at Stamford Public Schools. This position is supervised by the Stamford Police Department. 

 

Ideal Candidates will demonstrate the following:

A strong work ethic with a work history of stability, reliability, dependability, and flexibility.

Willingness to work at a physically demanding job with school children.

Excellent judgment, decision-making and patience in dealing with pedestrian and vehicular traffic.

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

There are no specific experience requirements but candidates should be dependable and have the ability to learn on the job.
