ASSISTANT PLANT SUPERVISOR-WPCA

The Stamford Water Pollution Control Authority is recruiting for the position of Assistant Plant Supervisor.  All interested qualified applicants are urged to apply.

 

 

Duties:  Under the general direction of the Water Pollution Control Bureau Chief or designee, is responsible for implementing process control policies, procedures and directives as established by the Bureau Chief or designee; supervises plant operating staff and performs wastewater treatment process control duties to ensure proper operation, performs related duties as required.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Graduation from an accredited high school and five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the operation of a waste water treatment plant, of which three (3) of those years must be as Chief Operator or Shift Foreman of a Class IV WWTF OR equivalent education, experience  and training.

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: 

At the time of application, possession of a Connecticut DEEP Class IV Wastewater Operator's certificate OR a Connecticut DEEP Class III Wastewater Operator 's certificate AND a letter signed by an official of the State DEEP verifying eligibility to obtain the Class IV certification within one year of appointment.

 

NOTE:  Applicants with wastewater operator certification from outside Connecticut must submit, at the time of application, a letter signed by an official of the State of Connecticut DEEP verifying that such certification is equivalent to the Connecticut Class III or IV certificate AND that such applicant is eligible to obtain a Connecticut DEEP Class IV certificate within one year of appointment.

Within one (1) year of appointment, in order to retain employment, must obtain Connecticut DEEP Class IV certification.

 

Possess a valid Connecticut Commercial Driver's License.

LAND USE BUREAU CHIEF

The City of Stamford is recruiting for the position of LAND USE BUREAU CHIEF

 

POSITION:  Under the direction of the Director of Operations, manages the activities, of the Land Use Bureau including, Planning and Zoning, Zoning Board of Appeals and Environmental Protection.   Serves as Commissioner of the Traffic and Parking Commission; does related work as required.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Architecture, Engineering or a related field, and seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in professional planning and zoning of which three (3) shall have been in a supervisory capacity.

SHIFT FOREMAN - WPCA

The City of Stamford is accepting applications for the position of Shift Foreman - WPCA.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Under the general direction of the Water Pollution Control Authority Bureau Chief or designee, performs supervisory work in conjunction with the operation and maintenance of the Water Pollution Control Facility and collection system; may be assigned to work evenings, nights and weekends; does related work as directed.

ELECTRICAL INSPECTOR
 

 

The City of Stamford is accepting applications for the position of Electrical Inspector.

 

POSITION:  Under the general direction of the Building Official or designee, performs on-site inspections of electrical installations, alterations and repairs to insure conformity with the National Electrical Code and other related regulations; enforces compliance with electrical codes by contractors; does related work as required.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:  Graduation from an accredited high school and four (4) years of experience as a journeyman electrician.

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:  At time of application, must possess valid and current licenses as:

 

  • an Electrical Inspector, from the State of Connecticut Department of Public Safety.
  • an E-1 Unlimited Electrical Contractor, from the State of Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection; and
  • a motor vehicle operator.   

NOTE:  State of Connecticut Building Official or Assistant Building Official License preferred.

TRAFFIC ENGINEER

The City of Stamford is recruiting for the position of Traffic Engineer

 

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:  Under the general direction of the Bureau Chief of Transportation, Traffic and Parking is responsible for designing and managing traffic safety program for the City of Stamford.  Responsibilities include overseeing the traffic and signal engineering teams, supervision of the pavement markings, signs and traffic signals engineering and operational staff; data collection and analyses; project analysis; project design and construction oversight; and, crash analysis.  Prepares overall program plans and budget requests, monitors expenditures, and administers the approved budget; does related other duties as required.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:  Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Traffic Engineering or a related field.  A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in traffic engineering and safety management with at least two (2) years previous supervisory experience and budget management.  A Master’s degree in Traffic or Transportation Engineering can be substituted for one (1) year of experience.
